Master Sergeant John Maclean

 

​Master Sergeant John MacLean entered the Marine Corps in 1981 as an infantryman. His first assignment in the Fleet Marine Forces was 1st Battalion/7th Marine Regiment where he served for a nearly unprecedented 54 months in every billet inherent to the Marine Corps rifle platoon. In 1983, MSgt MacLean was selected to train and compete with the elite Battalion Super Squad charged with the codification and refinement small unit warfighting tactics. After deploying twice to Okinawa, Japan, MSgt MacLean resumed his tour in Camp Pendleton serving in infantry platoon leadership roles again with 7th Marine Regiment. In 1986, MSgt MacLean reported to the School of Infantry, Camp Pendleton to serve as a Platoon Commander and Tactics Instructor. After attending Recruiter School, MSgt MacLean reported to Cleveland, Ohio in 1990 where he served as a Canvassing Recruiter before taking charge of a recruiting station in Erie, Pennsylvania and then as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of Akron, Ohio. MSgt MacLean then reported to Recruiter School, San Diego, California for duty as an instructor. In 1998, he was awarded his current rank and took on the responsibility of improving lesson plans and certification processes for the school. In 1999, MSgt MacLean transferred back to Cleveland where he served as the Recruiter Instructor until his retirement from the Marine Corps in 2001. Since 2001, MSgt MacLean has served alternately as the Marine Instructor and Senior Marine Instructor for Akron East Community Learning Center.

 

Major Timothy Patrick​

​Major Timothy Patrick enlisted in Marine Corps in 1995 as an infantryman. His first assignment was with 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion where he served as a scout and squad leader while deploying to Panama and Mediterranean nations. As a sergeant, he was responsible for the coordination and teaching of battalion mandatory Battle Skills Training which included land navigation, combat marksmanship, first aid and combat fitness training. In 2002, Maj Patrick was selected to attend The Ohio State University and earn his commission as a Marine Corps officer. His first duty station as an officer was Camp Lejeune, NC where he served in a variety of billets to include Public Affairs Officer, Water Survival Instructor, and Martial Arts Instructor. During this time he deployed multiple times with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit to countries in Europe, Africa and Asia. In 2011, Major Patrick accepted an assignment to Recruit Depot, Parris Island where he served as Company Commander for recruits making the transformation into Marines. After completion of American Military University graduate studies in 2013 and Expeditionary Warfare School in 2014, Maj Patrick deployed to the Pacific island of Guam in 2015 to serve as the Director for Strategic Communication. There he worked as part of a team to establish a Marine Corps base on the island and joint training areas in the Mariana Islands. He retired in 2018 and began working as Senior Marine Instructor for Akron East Community Learning Center in 2019.
